Say a Little Prayer
March 12, 2020
My dear friend Vicki, an all around thoughtful, empathic person, also a minister, posted this to FB yesterday. It’s a pretty good reminder that as disappointing, frustrating and inconvenient the coronavirus and its fallout is likely to be over the next buncha months for some of us … for others, it’s worse.
In the disappointing category, Peter’s planned trip to Ann Arbor to meet the guy whose lab he might work in for the next 4-6 years, and evaluate A2 as a place to live, work and play, is canceled.
In the frustrating and potentially financially disastrous category, Matt’s and Eric’s Long Beach sports bar’s gonna take a hit as pretty much every big TV sport is shuttered. And their other restaurants, too. The Long Beach Grand Prix? Canceled. Conferences and trade shows downtown and at the convention center? Canceled. Bad for them; bad for wait staff, cooks, bartenders.
We talk, we acknowledge it’ll all come back. We acknowledge that, all things considered, we are lucky to even have such worries. Up to all of us to be responsible, minimize the spread by staying away from others, public places.. and think about the Prayer for a Pandemic.
