Whatta World Series!

November 1, 2025

We had a ton of fun watching this year’s World Series, World Series fans that we are. We may not see a single game all year, but come World Series time.. we’re all in.

Mostly we wanted a seven-game series. Painful games for both sides along the way but… we got one. Stress-inducing games (like that 18-inning game 3), super human feats (like Shohei’s two home runs and two doubles in game 3), eye-popping plays (so many)… it was a thrilling seven games. Glad to be on board for all of it. I was rooting for the Dodgers — a sentimental nod to my dad and our years of sharing our affection for the 60s-70s Dodgers. But I wouldn’t have complained if Canada won, feeling some affection for them, too, esp in light of our stupid president’s petulant actions against them.

Here are just a few pictures, taken right off my screen at the end of game seven, as the Dodgers celebrated their second consecutive national championship.

Manager Dave Roberts and series MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto and a bunch of Dodgers.

Kiki Hernandez, who made some amazing plays in left field. Happy guy.

Clayton Kershaw, who didn’t do much in this series, but who’s a legend. Says Google AI:

Given his extraordinary regular-season statistics and numerous accolades, Clayton Kershaw is a virtual certainty for induction into the Baseball Hall of Fame. The pitcher retired following the 2025 season and will become eligible for election in 2031.

His career accomplishments include three Cy Young Awards, an MVP, multiple World Series titles, and membership in the 3,000-strikeout club. Kershaw is considered one of the greatest pitchers of his generation, despite some well-documented struggles in the postseason.

Here he is in the post-game show, shirtless (I mean, really) and doused in locker room champagne, talking with Kevin somebody, A-Rod, Big Poppy and Derek Jeter. I came to really look forward to these post game shows.

I like this pic of Manager Dave Roberts. His proud face.

Then there was Shohei Ohtani. Look him up (my description will not do him justice).

And some impressive Dodger history. And I guess they never won the championship in my Dodger fan era but won the National League pennant in ’74 (say the googles) and at least made it to the World Series, though they didn’t win (and I actually don’t even remember that). My guys were Steve Garvey, Bill Russell, Ron Cey, Davey Lopes, Willie Davis, Maury Wills, Don Sutton, Manny Mota, Tommy John, the tail end of Don Drysdale…and probably a bunch of others I can’t remember.

Can’t wait for March. Maybe this year we’ll watch some regular season baseball.
